Sunday 29th July, 4.30pm-6.00pm, ALBERTON

A midwinter treat! Step back in time at historic Alberton for this intimate afternoon soirée, suitable for the whole family, harking back to Alberton’s heyday when the house was alive with guests and music performed by family, friends and invited musicians. In the sumptuous Victorian ballroom, players from NZ Barok present an assortment of baroque musical gems with a touch of history in this light-hearted one hour concert.
Featuring music by Purcell, Vivaldi, Boyce, Sammartini and Bach, the programme has been curated with a general audience in mind and would be a lovely entrée for those unfamiliar with orchestral music. The players will introduce you to the Baroque style, its instruments and key composers, peppered with anecdotes from history. Refreshments will be served on arrival and tickets include entry to the house. Come along earlier to explore this fascinating homestead built in 1863. Children are welcome. Dress up and make an afternoon of it! The performers have generously donated their time in this fundraiser for Alberton and Heritage New Zealand.
