NEW ZEALAND’S BAROQUE ORCHESTRA

BRONWEN PUGH

Bronwen Pugh has been a core member of NZ Barok since 2006. She completed three years’ full-time study of the baroque violin with Sigiswald Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and more recently participated in Kuijken’s masterclasses in Italy. Bronwen is a founding member, with harpsichordist Robert Petre, of the ensemble Restoration, which since 1985 has worked with numerous local and visiting musicians in concerts, festivals, tours, workshops, and recordings in both NZ and London. Bronwen’s years of research with colleagues into the connections between baroque music and dance led to her invitation by the world’s foremost baroque dance authority Wendy Hilton to become music director at her annual workshop at Stanford University, USA, between 1990 and 2005. Bronwen’s work in this field was also recognised with a Fulbright Cultural Development award.
